Swimming
Did You Know... The first swimming goggles, in the 1300’s, were made from polished, clear tortoise shell.
No matter how much you swim or train, without the proper swimmer's nutrition you won't get very far... Olympic swimmers are not in such great shape just because of the amount of time in the water. Elite athletes, like professional swimmers, take high quality supplements on top of a very healthy diet that includes: * Organic vegetables If you are a vegetarian swimmer, make sure you take some type of protein supplement or eat a lot of eggs. We can't stress enough the importance of protein for a swimmer's nutrition. Without it your muscles will not be healthy or able to develop properly. How Often Should I Eat For Proper Swimmer's Nutrition? A swimmer that is training heavily (more than two hours a day) should eat four to seven times a day, but they should eat light each meal. Eating heavy food or eating too much at one sitting will weigh down a good swimmer and make them lethargic and unable to train. How Many Daily Calories Are Involved In A Swimmer's Nutrition Throughout the day an Olympic swimmer will often consume four to five thousand calories, granted they train six to ten hours a day. If you are heavily into training in the pool and are wondering how many calories you should consume to give you optimal energy levels you should consult your local certified health care provider. Just remember, what food you put into your body as a swimmer is just as important as how much. High quality supplements should also be included in a swimmer's nutrition. Unless your swimming trainer can implement all the foods you need into your diet to get the amount of vitamins and minerals you need on a daily basis you definitely need supplements. At Diet Health and Fitness we know you that if you continue to train and implement the above swimmer's nutrition recommendations into your diet you will be able to swim faster and longer because of it... A swimmer's nutrition should not be taken for granted, it is just as important as your hours in the pool. Diet Health & Fitness Recommends:
