DID YOU KNOW?
Natural vs. Synthetic
Vitamins claiming to be natural, only have to be
10% natural to make that claim.
Most people may realize that vitamins and minerals are two different things, but they probably do not know what vitamins and minerals actually are and what they are good for.
Vitamins, for example, are essential to living a healthy life; regulating metabolism and assisting the processes that release energy from digested food.
Vitamins are naturally found in food. However, because the earth's soil has become polluted and depleted of essential minerals our food doesn't contain the vitamin and mineral content it should. Even organic food doesn't contain the same vitamin and mineral content it did prior to 1950.
Farmers and scientists actually first made this problem present to the United States Congress as early as 1930. To ensure you're getting your vitamins, take high quality vitamin supplements with each meal.
What Do Vitamins Actually Do?
Vitamins also work with enzymes as co-enzymes, enabling the body to perform its activities, or build and feed cells. Vitamins are also either water soluble or fat soluble. This is important because vitamins must have an effective way of being broken down within the body, otherwise they're not used and passed through the body.
This is actually best evident in most vitamin pills or supplements you can buy in in stores or on-line. Most of these company's vitamins are not water or fat soluble enough for the body to ever break them down.
At Diet Health and Fitness we often refer to them as "vitamin bricks," or "expensive pee." While you think you're getting all of that vitamin C you're taking, unless it is from one of the few companies that ensures and guarantees absorption, it is probably passing right through you. Just be careful and do your research.
Like we said, a reputable health company will be able to provide you with information that proves that its vitamins are of the highest potency and purity.
So What Are The Fat Soluble Vitamins?
Fat soluble vitamins are stored in body tissues and require the presence of fatty acids in order to be transported and absorbed. Fat-free diets, for example, interfere with the absorption of these vitamins and can create possible deficiencies.
Fat soluble vitamins are: vitamin A, D, E, and K as well as beta-carotene.
The Water Soluble Vitamins?
Water soluble vitamins must be regularly consumed, and replenished within the body and consumed or taken at divided times throughout the day. That's one reason it's best to eat a few small organic meals than one or two giant ones.
Water soluble vitamins are not stored in the body, and therefore they are quickly depleted. Unlike animals, we cannot produce any vitamin C in our bodies, which is why it's essential that you pay attention to how much vitamin C
you're consuming. The only way your body will get enough vitamin C to be healthy and keep your immune system functioning properly is if you start taking it on a daily basis.
These water soluble vitamins are: B-complex, which consists of vitamins B1, B2, B3, B5, B6, and B12. Biotin, Vitamin C, and folic acid.
What About Minerals?
Minerals are needed for the proper composition of body fluids. They are also needed for the building and formation of blood and bones as well as building and feeding cells.
Minerals are needed in varying amounts and, like vitamins, are crucial to your body's overall health because they also give you sustained energy throughout the day.
The best natural way to get the proper amount of minerals is through your diet, however, because of the same reasons listed above our food does not have the mineral content that it should.
You should eat primarily organic fruits and vegetables as well as take a high quality supplement to ensure that your body is getting the minerals it needs.
The minerals you need are: calcium, sodium, magnesium, boron, copper, cobalt, chromium, Iodine, sulfur, manganese, selenium, iron, vanadium, zinc, potassium, silicon, and phosphorus.
At Diet Health and Fitness we can't stress enough, the importance of getting the right vitamins and minerals into your body everyday. You can exercise all you want, but if you aren't getting the fundamentals of a healthy diet, your body is paying the price on the inside. Eventually it will show up on the outside through injury and disease.
The vitamins we've found to give us the best results are also being used by professional and Olympic athletes every single day. (As a matter of fact thiis company has helped U.S. Olympic athletes take home over 85 gold medals throughout the years.)
